Flight and Space 2/24

One student group's storyboard sketch.

Currently in flight and space, the students are almost finished with their videos for their commercial projects. These videos look spectacular right now, and have a wide variety of ideas. Some commercials are all live-action acting. Other commercials are mostly animation. Most commercials have some sort of voice-over.

The students can be proud of the hard work they are putting in to these commercials, and we are all very excited to see how they turn out!

Design and Modeling 2/18

Currently, in Design and Modeling the students have finished their Rube Goldberg projects! The projects have been filmed, and I am currently sorting through the film in an attempt to create a Youtube video. I will be sure to alert everyone when that is finished.
The students are now moving forward from the Rube Goldberg projects, and are now beginning to learn about 3d modeling on the computer.
We use professional-grade software called Autodesk Inventor. It is challenging and complex, but within the next few weeks the students will be learning how to use this software. As the students learn more, they will be able to create more complex 3d models. Eventually, the students will be using our school 3d printer to print off a model of their design. Stay tuned to twitter for updates and pictures!

Automation and Robotics 2/4

Currently in Automation and Robotics, the students are in the middle of our apocalypse scenario.

In their colonies (groups), the students are working on building complex apocalypse machines to try and survive the upcoming challenges, and save humanity!

The leap from simple mechanisms to complex machines has been a big one, and many students are working their way through frustration and challenge. However, this is a good thing! The students are doing a great job continuing to use their knowledge of mechanisms to create these complex machines used to perform a specific task. Stay tuned to twitter (@MrHron) for more updates of apocalypse machines!
